Doris answers questions in Microsoft Teams. Send it a direct message, or @mention it in a channel, and it replies from the same deal picture the app uses, scoped to what you can already see. It never posts on its own. It only replies to a message that reaches it.

Before you install

Two people are involved and they are usually not the same person. A Teams administrator installs the app for the organisation. Each rep connects Microsoft 365 in Doris so the bot can tell who is asking.
Doris identifies you by the Microsoft account you connected to Doris, not by your Teams display name. If you have not connected Microsoft 365, the bot replies asking you to, and answers nothing until you have. See Microsoft 365 / Outlook.

Install it for your organisation

1

Download the app package

Download doris-teams-app.zip. It contains the app manifest and icons. There is nothing to configure inside it, and it carries no credentials, so it is safe to forward to whoever administers your Teams.
2

Upload it in the Teams admin center

Go to Teams admin center > Teams apps > Manage apps, select Upload new app, and choose the zip.The app then appears in your organisation’s app catalogue. No Microsoft review is involved, and end users do not need permission to upload custom apps.
3

Choose who can use it

In Manage apps, open Doris and use an app permission policy to allow it for the people you want. You can start with a pilot group and widen later.
4

Optional: pin it

An app setup policy pins Doris to the Teams sidebar so people find it without searching.

Where it can be used

In a channel or group chat, Doris only receives messages that @mention it. A question typed without the @mention gets no reply, and that is the most common reason people think it is broken.

Asking it something

Ask in plain language. Doris answers from the calls, emails, documents and CRM fields behind the deal.
  • What happened on my last call?
  • Which deals went quiet this week?
  • Where is the Acme deal and what is at risk?
Answers end with a Sources list linking to the meetings and deals they came from, so you can open the evidence in Doris. An answer takes around 30 seconds. Doris shows the Teams typing indicator while it works.

Following up

Doris remembers the recent turns of your conversation, so a follow-up like what about the other one? works. Each person’s history is their own. Two people asking in the same channel do not see each other’s previous questions, and each answer is scoped to what that person can see in Doris. Say clear to start a fresh thread. The earlier conversation stays readable in Doris.

Telling us when an answer is wrong

React to Doris’s reply with 👍 or 👎 in Teams. That is recorded against the answer. Every message also carries a request ID. Open the conversation in Doris, hover the message, and copy it. Sending that ID with a bug report finds the exact run in our logs.

Finding a Teams conversation later

Teams conversations appear in your Doris chat list alongside in-app ones, marked with the Teams icon. They are stored the same way and kept for the life of the workspace.

What Doris will not do in Teams

  • It never starts a conversation. Every reply follows a message to it.
  • It never contacts your buyer. Doris has no buyer-facing surface at all.
  • It cannot change anything. In Teams, Doris has read access only. Writes are available in the app.
  • It does not read your channel. Only messages that @mention it reach Doris.

Troubleshooting

Check the message @mentions it. Doris receives nothing else in a channel or group chat.
Connect Microsoft 365 in Doris under Settings, using the same work account you use in Teams. Doris matches on your Microsoft directory identity, so a personal account or a different tenant will not match.
Teams limits how large a message can be. A long answer is trimmed and links to the full version in Doris.
React with 👎, then send us the request ID from the message in your Doris chat list.

Updating the app

Backend improvements reach you with no action. Doris updates the answers, the sources and the behaviour without touching the Teams package. When the package itself changes, such as a new icon or a new command list, download the zip again from the same link and upload it the same way. Teams treats it as an update to the existing app rather than a second copy. The link always serves the current package.
